Salt water gargle

You will require ½ teaspoon of salt, 1 cup of warm water. Add half a teaspoon of salt to a cup of warm water, mix the solution well and gargle. Gargling with water can help to get rid of phlegm which is stuck between the tonsils and the gaps inside your throat and mouth. This phlegm contains microbes which are responsible for tonsils. The warm water will break down the mucus and will make breathing easier.

Apple cider vinegar

You will require 1 tablespoon of apple cider vinegar, 1 glass of warm water. Mix them well and add honey. You can do gargle or consume this solution too. Apple cider vinegar possess antibacterial and antiviral properties that can help to kill the bacteria.

Chamomile tea

You will need 1 teaspoon of dried chamomile tea, 1 cup of warm water and honey. You can add a teaspoon. Allow it to steep for 5-10 minutes. Strain and add honey to this concoction. Drink chamomile tea before it turns cold. Chamomile is a medicinal herb with a wide range of benefits. It has anti-inflammatory properties that can help to reduce swelling, inflammation and pain which is associated with tonsils.

Onion

You will require 1 onion, ½ cup of water and honey. Take an onion and blend this with half cup of water. Add honey to this and mix it well. Consume this mixture in small quantities throughout the whole day. Onions exhibits natural antibacterial properties that can help in combating the bacteria that cause tonsillitis.

Ginger

You will require 1 inch of ginger, 1 cup of water, honey which can be optional. Boil the ginger in a cup of water in a saucepan, simmer for 5 minutes and strain the solution, allow the tea to cool down a bit, you can add honey and consume the mixture. Ginger contains a compound called gingerol that has anti-inflammatory properties. Fresh ginger is also proven to exhibit antiviral activities, which makes it suitable to cure tonsils.

Fenugreek seeds

You will require 3 tablespoons of fenugreek seeds and 1L of water. Add the fenugreek seeds to water and bring it to boil. Sim this for 5 minutes and allow it to cool a little. Now, use this fenugreek solution to gargle throughout the day. Fenugreek is an excellent remedy for tonsillitis, given its antibacterial, antiviral properties. Fenugreek seeds will also help to remove the phlegm in your throat.

Milk

You will need 1 cup of hot milk, a dash of pepper and turmeric powder. Now, add some pepper and turmeric powder to a cup of hot milk. Mix well and drink it before bedtime. Milk is a proven remedy against plenty of infections which include tonsillitis. Now, daily consumption of milk can soothe your inflamed tonsils and they relieve pain. The combination of milk with turmeric and pepper is effective against tonsillitis.

Fresh figs

You will require 2-3 fresh figs and water. Boil some fresh figs in water, make a paste out of the boiled figs and apply externally to your throat. Leave this for atleast 15 minutes and wash it off with water. You can eat figs on a regular basis. Figs are a rich source of phenolic compound which exhibits the anti-inflammatory properties. Figs are also antibacterial and can help to relieve infections which causes tonsillitis.
